About Our Program:
Our program prepares students for employment as automotive technicians by providing them with state-of-the-art automotive service repair techniques. This ASE Certified Program is designed to teach students the theory of automotive operation, service, and repair of modern vehicles. The content of this program is included, but is not limited to the following:
- Application of required automotive shop and personal safety tasks
- Proper use and handling of automotive industry tools/equipment
- Vehicle routine pre/post maintenance and customer service
- Diagnosis, service, and repair of drum/disc brake, hydraulics, power assist units, electronic brakes, traction control, and stability control systems
- Diagnosis, service, and repair of front and rear suspensions systems, wheel alignment, and wheels and tires
- Diagnosis, service, and repair of electrical/electronic system components, battery, starting, charging, lighting, gauges, warning devices, driver information, horn, wiper/washer and accessory systems.
- Diagnosis, service, and repair of engines, cylinder heads, valve train, engine block, lubrication and cooling systems
This competency-based program combines theory and real-life working conditions to provide an effective beginning for students who wish to become certified automotive service technicians.
Admission Requirements:
- 16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in any K-12 program
- Occupational Interest
Program Structure:
This program consists of 1050 hours and is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of three Occupational Completion Points (OCPs):

Full Program Completion:
- Completion of all program competencies
- Minimum basic-skills TABE®: Math 10, Reading 9, Language 9; or
- One (1) or more ASE industry certifications

Salary:
The average wage for this career in Florida is $21.09 hourly or $43,860 annually.
Employment Outlook:
Employment of automotive service technicians and mechanics is projected to show little or no change from 2020 to 2030.
