South Dade Technical College was established in 1969 as an adult night school credit recovery program operating out of South Dade Senior High School’s facility located at 28401 SW 167th Avenue, Miami, Florida. In 1987, South Dade Adult was established as South Dade Adult Education Center and moved to a day and night stand alone adult education center located at 109 NE 8th Street Homestead, Florida. In an effort to conserve and consolidate operational expenditures, in 2002 the Miami-Dade County Public School District established the Skills Center Campus as a branch of the Main Campus and the Homestead Job Corp as an extension site for vocational offerings. On January 16, 2013, the School Board of Miami-Dade County approved the renaming of the school to South Dade Educational Center. On December 10, 2014, the School Board voted on Item C-72 to rename South Dade Educational Center to South Dade Technical College.
